Ileana was an amazing advocate and leader and I admired her for all her work and advocacy but the most poignant thing she ever said to me was in 2006 when I was pregnant and had come from CA to see her in FL when she was my customer. We were talking about what it is like to become a parent - and I was expecting my first child at 37 and was anxious and she said to me "my life began the day my daughter was born". I have never forgotten that moment with her.
